Mix it up Monday

As summer is drawing to an end, we decided to design a Screened in Porch with our new line Mulligans. We also threw in a few of our classic Holland & Co. and MacRae pieces with a Geranium Painted finish.

Potted Plants

To continue our post on Gardening, if you do not want to spruce up your garden with Bee Skeps, another great option is potted plants-

For a fun fact, Bybee Stoneware is featured above, and it is made from the intriguing yellow clay found near Bybee, Kentucky.  Potters have been making Bybee Stoneware since 1809.

Bee Skeps

We love antiques, so why not add one to your garden...
Bee Skeps.
These unassuming woven structures are designed to house honeybees.  They were once used to carrying bees from Europe to America in the early 1600's.
These "honeybee hotels" are a rarity and an antique, so they range from $500.00 - $1,000.00.  They do look great in the garden, but they are also used for display inside.  Most believe they are too valuable and fragile to sit outside.
Here are some inspiring shots for your garden-

Robert Henri

Today marks the anniversary of the death of the great artist Robert Henri.  Besides his great work, he left us with inspiring quotes to put forth in our own artistic, work-

"Don't worry about your originality.  You couldn't get rid of it even if you wanted to.  It will stick with you and show up for better or worse in spite of all you or anyone else can do."

"Art is, after all, only a trace - like a footprint which shows that one has walked bravely and in great happiness."

"Genius is not a possession of the limited few, but exists in some degree in everyone.  Where there is natural growth, a full and free play of faculties, genius will manifest itself."

"Pretend you are dancing or singing a picture.  A worker or painter should enjoy his work, else the observer will not enjoy it."

"Art is the giving by each man of his evidence to the world.  Those who wish to give, love to give, discover the pleasure of giving.  Those who give are tremendously strong."

Chelsea Spring Flower Show

The Royal Horticultural Society puts on the Chelsea Flower Show, every May for 5 days.  It is held on the Royal Hospital Grounds in Chelsea, London.  The most famous Flower Show in the UK and most likely the world, the show attracts visitors from all continents.  Here are some of our favorite pictures from previous shows-
