Dorothy Mae "Sister" Parish

Dorothy Mae Parish (1910 – 1994), known as “Sister” Parish was an interior designer, as well as Dorothy Draper’s cousin, however their decorating styles differed.  Sister filled her rooms with flowery chintzes and ornate embroidery together with  patchwork quilts and rag rugs.  She is credited with spreading the American country style during the 1960s, and was the first interior designer brought in by Jackie Kennedy to decorate the White House.  Parish’s influence can still be seen in the Family Dining Room and Yellow Oval Room in the White House.

Ina Garten

Here is a riddle for you . . . who is a former White House nuclear policy analyst?

Ina Garten - the host of Food Network's Barefoot Contessa.  She is mainly well known for her cooking and her cookbooks, in which she has invented easy recipes that are full of fresh ingredients.  She began her culinary career when she bought the store, Barefoot Contessa in 1978 and taught herself how to cook by reading many French and New England recipes.  The store closed in 2004.  Ina has written seven cookbooks since 1999, and in 2006 launched her own line of packaged foods called Barefoot Contessa Pantry, including cake mixes, marinades, sauces, and preserves.
